Ramadan Interfaith Iftar Dinner
Last Wednesday, July 24, 2013 -- Islamic House of Wisdom held a Unity and Interfaith iftar that attracted more than 400 people throughout the evening and highlighted the spirit of cooperation between the different faiths in the community.
The iftar included local imams, pastors and leaders of religious organizations, judges, Mayors of Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, representatives from civic and nonprofit organizations, community leaders, youth groups and a host of local elected officials and distinguished guests.
The evening began in the auditorium where participants were welcomed by Imam Elahi who spoke briefly on the unity of the season of Ramadan and it's benefits for those who are participating in the blessed month. The floor was opened to community activists and leaders who shared their thoughts on interfaith and wishes to the Muslim community. A common theme expressed by all was to strengthen our ties as one community in safe guarding the future of the people with special emphasis on the youth.
Following the program, everyone moved to the main reception hall where they enjoyed in a delicious dinner and discussion together. Interfaith friends were delighted to have had the opportunity to join us and expressed their anticipation towards having future occasions together.
Sayed Jawad Qazwini delivered his second nightly program at the start of the interfaith evening and will continue for the second half of Ramadan every night in English. Following the program in the remaining nights, he will open the floor to Q&A and discussion. Sheikh Hassan al-Haeri is in the masjid nightly delivering his presentation in Arabic. All are welcome to join us.
Islamic House of Wisdom has been a leader in interfaith dialogue and in bringing representatives of various faiths to celebrate the commonality of religions. It also sponsors various youth programs, focusing on tolerance, peace and unity.
