Iftar Program for Afghani Refugees at Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights, MI.

Many arrived in Detroit back in November 2021, and stayed together in local hotels until they were able to find housing. Due to limited housing opportunities, some now live in Ypsilanti to West Bloomfield to far East side of Detroit. Since many do not have a driver's license or transportation, volunteers will pick up everyone for tonight's Iftar Dinner event. This will be the first time for most to gather publicly in Ramadan!

This is an opportunity for them to meet again, and to enjoy the traditional public Iftar gatherings that many Muslims enjoy in the month of Ramadan!

We will gift them: clothing, household and basic need items in addition to more food to take home.

The Evening will consist of: 7:45pm: Brief program to welcome everyone in various languages - unique for all families. 8:20pm: Iftar Buffet Dinner will be served for all.

Our aim is for them to be reminded of our generous and welcoming community with the hope to stay in touch to continue providing assistance and guidance as needed in the future.

Organizers of the evening include: Who Is Hussein Organization, People for Humanity and Islamic House of Wisdom.
