Last Night's- Ramadan Official's Iftar, Hosted by Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko!
It was a festival of faith and friendship.Imam Elahi thanked Mayor Paletko and the City Officials and said: Let the resolution of our Ramadan be expression of mercy and forgiveness to all, except the oppressors and those commit crimes against innocent people the month of mercy!
Seham Awada moderated the reception; Mayor Paletko thanked the City staff and the community guests. The Mayor admired imam Mardini and imam Elahi for their outreach and interfaith work.
Imam Elahi called the month of Ramadan a great season of soul, a month of reflection and remembrance, he added but the main spiritual function of Ramadan was asking the Lord’s mercy and forgiveness. If forgiveness was our main Divine demand, then it’s time to forgive one another. Let’s turn the Eid-el-Fitr on this Friday a festival of forgiveness. Let’s start this from our family, friends, neighbors, community and our country.
Both imams shared words of grace blessing the iftar dinner in El-Shallal restaurant in Dearborn Heights.
