We will miss a great voice of peace, justice and unity!

Congressman John Conyers left the world to meet his Lord!

This evening as I got home and heard about the departure of our friend John Conyers, I felt a deep sense of grief and sadness in my heart and tears in my eyes!

I remember days after the tragic time of 9-11, when he came to IHW and initiated a huge gathering of “One Day for Peace’ with so many youth and their families in our mosque!

John was a peacemaker, a source of hope and healing, a man of compassion and humbleness!

Congressman Conyers didn’t miss any opportunity to fight poverty, injustice, inequality and segregation in Detroit and any where in our nation.

An amazing coincidence that he died on the same day that the greatest voice of peace, justice and human integrity, prophet Mohammad(pbuh) passed away!!

We will miss you our dear friend!
