Historic Shia-Sunni Alliance Forum, At National Conference Center!

Scholars Unity Retreat between Feb 7-9 in Washington D.C. Area!

Imam Majid from ISNA, Imam Kashmiri of I.M.A.M, Imam Mozzamel of Central mosque of Los Angeles, Imam Elahi of Islamic House of Wisdom, Imam ALI Suleiman of Canton mosque, Imam Halabi of Imam Center, Imam Al-Masmari of Unity Center, Imam Turk of IONA and a group of other imams and university representatives met at the National Conference Center in VA for a three day retreat to have an open and honest discussion about the challenges of the UMMA related to Shia-Sunni similarities, differences, obstacles and opportunities!

While the Muslims are part of American family, many times are treated with suspicion, Islamophobia and discrimination!

In addition to external pressures, the Muslim community also hurt by some sectarian sickness, ethnicity and cultural conflicts!

Three days of a group of mainstream mosques from both schools of thought was an opportunity to not only pray together, eat together, but go through every misconception, misunderstanding, being in history, belief system, jurisprudence, social or moral!

The Forum discussed a plan of action to provide more education, fight ignorance and extremism, put an end to Takfiri mentality and strengthening of Muslims’ unity!

Michigan would be one of the the first States to follow the conference resolution and its plans of actions!

Imam Elahi is planing to dedicate the next Friday’s sermon on Feb 14th at IHW to more details of D.C dialogue!

IHW is inviting and welcoming all Shia and Sunni brothers and sisters to join us this Friday and get more information about this historic conversation between some key US Muslim leaders and activists and be part of this new era of Muslims’ engagement and understanding!

Spacial thanks to Imam Majid and Imam Kashmiri for their initiatives, and hospitality on such a unique event and outreach!
