September 8, 2022 at Detroit Ministries Banquet Hall!

Imam Elahi’s words and prayers during the breakfast with Michigan’s honorable governer Whitmer and hundreds of faith leaders and members of the clergy community of Michigan!

Imam Elahi’s remarks:

Salaam , Shalom, peace and Good morning.

One of the Divine beautiful names in the Quran is: Shakoor

‎والله شكور

‎و سيجزي الله الشاكرين

God is Grateful,

and He will reward the grateful.

Gratitude is the best attitude!

Our daily prayers represent our humble gratitude to God, as the the unique source of all blessings, including life, light, liberation, health, wealth and wisdom.

We say at least 20 time, AlhamdolAllah in our daily rituals.

He has taught us through His heavenly Ambassadors, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad (pbut)

to be grateful to the instruments of service to human society.

It’s a great pleasure to be part of this gathering of grace and gratitude, to the leader of State of Michigan, our honorable Governer Whitmer.

We chose the second Thursday of September, and not the last Thursday of November, to say thank you to our Governor.

Since that would be after the election and the Governor’s turn to thank the interfaith community and the people of Michigan for contributing to her second victory.

Two weeks ago my 11 year old son, Mohammad Hussein was joining some other friends and family members for a short trip to Florida! His mom told him to choose a shirt for the airport.

Guess what he chose?

“ that woman in Michigan is my Governor”.

One of the most admirable achievements of Governor Whitmer is that now even women deniers can’t deny women anymore!

This election is no longer about gender, it is about justice,

democracy, education, equality, and opportunity!

I am not voting for Governor Whitmer solely because she is a woman!

Rather, I am voting for her because of her wisdom, her courage, her leadership, her vision, her humbleness, her character , her credibility and her exemplary qualifications.

She has profound knowledge, experience, determination and hard work. Her strengths include education, jobs, and assisting 150,000 children from low income families providing them with child care. She has balanced the budget, and has made a significant impact repairing thousands of roads and bridges!

What makes these great accomplishments even more admirable is the timing!

All these happened during a global painful pandemic that paralyzed the world,

While being in the midst of our national political tsunamis, hurricane of hates, rebellion of racism, domestic terrorism, and kidnapping conspiracy!

It was extremely heart breaking to witness the moments, when a governer responsible for the welfare of 10 million people was under attack!

The White House continued to support not this incredible woman who was in charge, but the violent mob!

Congratulations Governor,

I never forgot what you said in George Floyd’s march, two years ago “ let’s be part of the solution!

You stand for the people,

for diversity, for action

against Islamophobia, antisemitism, ignorance and injustice.

I pray you continue your hard work, and complete both your mission and vision for our great state of Michigan.

It’s so humbling to perform this prayer as we approach the anniversary of 9-11 , expressing our love and solidarity to the suffering families of victims of 9/11 as well as the suffering of billions of families on this planet who are experiencing their own 9-11s in their daily lives, whether it be due to fires, floods, climate crises, wars, violence and terrorism !

Oh God bless, protect and keep our Governor and our lieutenant governor and their team safe and successful!

Oh God make us, the Michigan interfaith and clergy community, Ambassadors of peace, justice, truth and trust!

Bless us Oh Lord with unity and brotherhood to work together for the sake of peace, progress and prosperity in our state, our country and our planet!

Amin!
