State Officials addressing spiritual, psychological and mental health issues following the end of COVID 19 emergency!
Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, Chief Medical Executive for the State of Michigan and member of Governor Whitmer Cabinet and Mr. Bill Hardiman, Director of Department of Health and Human Services and office of Faith Engagement and Dion Williams the interfaith director addressed the Imams Council of Michigan at IHW this morning.
The Council’s Cochairs Imam Elahi and imam Mikail welcomed the State’s guests and opened the floor for discussion on faith, culture and health issues.
Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian and Dr. Bill Hardiman shared information on the resources in their departments available to support our community’s health related needs.
Dr. Bagsasarian also expressed her concern about child immunizations. It’s down 75% to 50% since covid. Medical community is concerned about a resurgence of viruses like polio, measles, etc. Health disparities are greatest amongst black and brown communities.
Dr. Khalid Iqbal who joined the Council meeting from New Jersey addressed the imams, provided a presentation on mental disorders, Schizophrenia, anxiety, autism and other mental diseases.
IHW invites the community members interested on these issues to attend a free workshop on mental health issues, this Sunday at 11 am. The workshop will be held at the conference room of IHW.
